Baby's First Quilt

There was a gift under the tree this year for Baby Heeke. Since it was from my parents, I had a guess about what it was - and lucky for me, I was right! Shannon (aka future grandma and quilter extrodinaire) made a beautiful baby quilt. I love the rubber duck fabric and the super cute dots. I know we will get lots of use out of it.

Ironically, I was recently telling my mom that Scott needed a quilt because he's always trying to steal mine when we watch tv. She was vague and suggested he use one of our other quilts or blankets - now we know why. She made him an amazing K-State quilt - it's already been used many times!

First Christmas Celebration

Tuesday night we celebrated Christmas with Jen, David and Eden. I've been dying to try Jen's Filipino cooking for ages and she finally agreed to cook for us! We had Chicken Adobo and fried lumpia. It was all delicious - I think I could eat fried lumpia every day!

After dinner we opened presents and Eden had a great time playing with the filling in Jen's gift bag.

Don't you love her little clips - Jen makes them! Check out the Punkee Monkee Boutique.

Spreading the word

We're so excited to finally be able to tell our family and friends that we're going to have a baby! It's been tough to keep the secret over the past couple of months - luckily we've had a healthy pregnancy thus far and we're praying that continues.

It's been fun to tell everyone and watch their surprise and shock. My favorite comments thus far have been:

  • "Wow, that's a surprise, we sure never expected that. Wow, what a surprise!!"
  • "Congratulations - it's about time!"
  • "Now I can say the rumor I've been spreading for 7 years is true"

Our lil 2inch Wonder

We recently had our 12 week doctor appointment - when the dr tried to listen for the heartbeat with the portable doppler thingie, she couldn't hear anything. I of course was starting to panic; however, she said that wasn't unusual at 12 weeks. Luckily she said, "we'll just get you over to have a quick ultrasound and you'll be able to see and hear the baby. "

A few minutes later the Ultrasound tech squeezed us in between appointments and we were greeted with the sight of our little baby moving around! It was so excited to see him/her and then hear the heartbeat!

The Ultrasound tech said the baby is about 2 inches big and all seems to be looking good. We had dinner with our friends Matt and Colleen that night and told them that I'm pregnant. We were telling them about the ultrasound and Matt called the baby "our lil 2 inch wonder". It's a perfect name for now!

New Adventure

Well, I'm finally entering the blogosphere. My friends said they would like to "hear" all about how things are going and when the baby is born, they want to see pictures all the time! So - I succumbed to the peer pressure and here we go. Plus, I enjoy reading everyone elses blogs, so I guess it's time that I contribute!

Not sure how frequently I'll post or how good I'll be at this whole blog thing, but I'll give it a try. :) Feel free to comment and give me any tips!
