Melt my heart
I tucked Liam into bed tonight and walked into Karsten's room to give Karsten a kiss and hug. Scott and Karsten were still reading their bedtime story together - how stinkin' cute is this with Karsten's arm around Scott?

Time for a check-up
If you sung that post title to the tune of Doc McStuffin's, you were spot on and you must have young children as well. :) Today we headed to the dentist for the boys regular checkup.
Since Liam is still new to this whole dentist thing, they put us in one of the private rooms so he wouldn't get scared by anything else he saw - and likely so any crying didn't disturb others. The downside of this is that Karsten didn't get to see other kids getting their teeth cleaned so he was scared.
The boys sat together in the chair while the hygenist got everything set up for Karsten's cleaning. There was a TV in the room, so it kept their attention.
After some negotiations, Karsten finally agreed to let the hygenist clean his teeth...without any flavored floride treatment. So, he got a good cleaning, but didn't get the gritty scrub on his teeth. I never liked that part either. He even got xrays taken of his teeth - he did a great job.

Liam wouldn't sit in the chair to let the hygenist clean his teeth, so he just sat on my lap for the dentist to check his teeth. Thankfully their teeth got a clean bill of health and we don't have to come back for another six months!

Bet you don't know...
Tonight at dinner, Karsten said 'I bet you don't know the date I learned at school'. After we figured out that he was talking about today's date and not a historic date, we guessed all sorts of dates in May. He indignntly said 'No' after each date, then impatiently told us that it was 2014 and the 6th of May. May 6th was not correct - it is the 6th of May. :)
Sometimes it is a challenge to pull out information about what he did at school that day, so I enjoy these conversations even if they can be a bit cryptic.

Loose tooth!
On Friday night, Karsten was getting ready for bed with Linda and Scott when they all excitedly called me into his room. Karsten had a loose tooth! We were all excited for him and told him about the tooth fairy. When we were tucking him into bed, he started to cry because he was scared about loosing his tooth and wanted it back the way it was.
Poor little guy - I suppose it would be scary to think about your tooth falling out if that had never happened before.
He was still unsure of the whole deal on Saturday, but we keep talking about how exciting it is and I think he's coming around.
So, stay tuned, the tooth is wiggly and will be out soon!

Christmas socks
Bet you thought the Christmas celebrations were over - nope, not at our house! The boys love their Christmas socks and continue to wear them regularly. I used to try and convince Karsten to wear white socks when he was going to wear shorts, but now I just go with the flow and let him choose. If he wants to wear Christmas socks in May, why not?

Grandma time
Gail was on vacation this week, so Liam had a lot of quality Grandma time. He spent Monday and Tuesday with my mom, then Linda came up to watch him Wednesday - Friday.
He had a great time with my mom, she said he played with all of the toys that Karsten always likes to claim as his own when they're playing together. I thought I could get Liam over there without Karsten catching on that Liam wasn't going to Gail's; however, eagle ears Karsten heard me whisper to Liam that he was going to see Grandma. Sign - oops, way to go, Lisa. He was not happy that Liam got to spend the day with Grandma and he didn't!
On Tuesday evening, I picked Liam up and he didn't want to come home with me. Grandma's house is way more fun. Luckily, I was able to get him to come with me because Linda was waiting at our house for him! I think Karsten enjoyed having her all to himself before Liam got home!
The boys immediatetly got their puzzles out for Grandma to play - each of them wanted all of Grandma's help!

I think they kept Linda on her toes with lots of fun and games. They had good weather for much of her visit and got to spend time at the park and playing outside.

They worked together and planted some of the seeds we hadn't gotten to yet.
The huge coloring books she brought were a big hit. There was lots of time spent coloring and creating masterpieces!
