A visit from friends

A few days ago, I got a text from my friend Jana saying that she was going to be in town for a soccer tournament for her daughter.  She used to live in KC and we always had so much fun scrapbooking - we missed her when she moved.  Her weekend was pretty busy with soccer games, but we were able to schedule lunch - it was great to see her and her hubby and I can NOT believe how much her girls have grown up!

Jenn was able to come to lunch as well!

Karsten and Liam had fun with Jenn and Jana.

Ouch

Last summer, Karsten had several falls and ended up with big scratches on his nose.  We had hoped that our luck had turned and he grew out of that phase.  Looks like that's not the case - he fell down while he and Scott were playing outside.  Unfortunately, he hasn't learned the reflex to catch himself with his hands, so his poor little nose took the brunt of his fall.

Rice Cereal

Hard to believe that it's already time for Liam to begin eating solid food.  I'll go ahead and insert the cliche 'time goes so quickly!'.  As we did with Karsten, we decided to wait until five months to lessen the chances of any allergy complications.  I had lots of food allergies as a kid, so we wanted to wait a bit longer and lessen their risk a bit.

Rice cereal here we come - next up - oatmeal!  After that we'll leave behind foods that taste like cardboard and move along to fruits and veggies!

This looks like he's saying 'hey mom, whatcha doin?'

Here we go!

Cereal is messy stuff

He likes it!  Success!

Toes

Look who has discovered his toes!  Any time he is laying on his back, he has his legs in the air and is trying to grab those toes.  While he can roll over (we've seen him do it), he seems less interested in that right now and more interested in his toes!

More bunny fun

I found some fun bunny pics that didn't fit well into my other Easter posts.

My parents gave Liam this monkey dressed as an bunny for Easter.  He LOVES talking to it - it seriously makes him laugh every time he plays with it.  I think he's really into eyes and faces right now, so he likes looking at the monkey's face and it helps that we all make the monkey talk to him.

Another chat with the monkey - he's making a funny face because he's talking and letting out a high pitched squeal of excitement!

This bunny was one of my mom's Easter decorations.  Karsten spotted it as soon as we walked in their house on Easter and said 'hey, who's that bunny'.  He then carried the porcelain (aka highly breakable) bunny all around the house.

He put the bunny in Papa's chair.  This was the second time the bunny landed in Papa's chair - the first time was at the dinner table and no one saw Karsten put the bunny there.  Chuck pulled out his chair and there was a white porcelain bunny staring at him - hilarious.

Liam was laying on the floor and Karsten put the bunny next to Liam then laid down so the bunny could watch them.  How cute are they holding hands?

Nice bunny!

We drew the line at taking the bunny outside - believe me, Karsten tried to take him.

We were trying to recreate a picture of Karsten on this quilt when he was five months old.  Not exactly the same, we'll need to try again.

This boy has such crazy hair - I think he's actually going to need a haircut soon, perhaps even before his six month pictures.

Happy Easter

On Easter morning, we woke up early to go to Grandma and Papa's for breakfast before church.  That Easter bunny got up way before we did and left Easter goodies for both boys.

The bunny was wise and opted to not leave any candy this year.  He knew we had plenty of yummy candy from the hunt at my work and the hunt at Gail's.  Plus, the bunny knew that Grandma would have plenty of candy.  :)

He was excited about his motorcycle and four wheeler...

...then he saw his arm and the rest was history.

We all loaded up (new arm toy and motorcycles included and headed to my parents house. We got a few pictures before church - these were our best tries.  Most everyone is at least looking at the camera and as a bonus we have motorcycles included.

Can you tell Karsten thought it would be more fun to go play?

He did well holding Liam - we have learned to stay close when Karsten is holding Liam because when Karsten is done, he will remove himself and let Liam fall over.

Love this one!

Well hey there cutie!

One more attempt at getting Karsten to smile and look at my camera at the same time - good effort.  :)

Good thing we did pics before church - Liam needed a snooze after church.

While we were at church that silly Easter Bunny hid eggs in the backyard. Karsten tried to pick them up with the arm - that didn't work too well!

Showing us that this egg wouldn't open because it was one of the ones we dyed.

Showing Grandma the coins in one of the eggs.

Look who woke up in time for some pictures.

He's doing a great job seeing something then trying to grab it.  He was determined to get to something in that basket.
