Great find!

Attention all moms - especially moms of boys! I found a new store, Naartjie Kids, that has cute boy clothes. The selection for boys was still smaller than girls, but what they had was cute! Now if you say "Lisa, that's old news", then why didn't you tell me sooner? :)

I got this t-shirt for Karsten. I love that it says "Science Team' since Scott's a science teacher!

18 month stats

Hard to believe Karsten is already 18 months. We went to the doctor yesterday for his regular checkup. This time he seemed to remember that this was the place he got shots last time and from the minute we took his clothes off to have him weighed until halfway through our conversation with the doctor, he was quite unhappy. Then, right after he was happy again, it was time to have his shots - lots and lots of tears. Poor baby.

The doctor said he's doing great. Right on track where he should be developmentally. I really like our doctor, Dr. Beck, she sits down and takes her time answering my questions and listening to things he is doing.

I'm so glad we had an appointment yesterday. December has been a sickly month at our house - I started the month with the stomach flu, then Scott and I both got this upper respitory thing that's going around. Karsten has had a runny nose for a few weeks now and started to develop a cough the other night. I was worried he was getting an ear infection after having a runny nose for so long - sure enough, ear infection! The medicine will get it taken care of quickly I'm sure!

His stats are:
  • Weight: 26 lbs 13oz (70th percentile)
  • Height: 33inches (75th percentile)
  • Head: 19.25inches (80th percentile)

Lending a hand

Well friends, you've probably noticed that the holidays have put me way behind on my blogging. The good news is that I'm working hard to catch up. Don't miss some of the new posts I've done - you might have to check the end of November or earlier in December.

Karsten thought he would help out by doing a few blog posts for me. He's become quite fascinated with my computer lately! He likes to push buttons and see what appears on the screen - entertaining game. :)

Saying Merry Christmas

Karsten started saying Merry Christmas early in the month of December. We were saying Merry Christmas to him and he repeated something back to us. At first we didn't know what he had said, because it didn't sound anything like Merry Christmas. When we realized he would repeat the exact same thing each time, we knew that was how he chose to say 'Merry Christmas' this year. Enjoy!

Lights of KC

Christmas isn't complete without a trip to the Plaza to see the lights. We were so excited to see Karsten's http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=220515288392730622reactions to the lights. He didn't diappoint, when we got to the plaza he said 'wow, oh wow' as he looked out the window.

After we toured the plaza, we wanted to visit a few neighborhoods on our way home. We saw some great lights, but unfortunately it's super tough to get a good pic at night. Karsten had a great time looking out the window and seeing the lights. We would point things out and occasionally he said "ooooo".

Karsten enjoyed watching the train and the "Ho Ho Ho" at this house.

Love these neighborhoods where all of the tree trunks are wrapped in lights.

Vacuum

All of the boys at Gail's love to play with the play vacuum. As soon as we walk into Gail's in the morning, Karsten tries to get out of my arms and says "dakuum".

Since we don't have a play vacuum at home, Karsten pretends with his popcorn popper or an actual swiffer. We finally put a cloth on the swiffer so he could actually clean the floor as he pushed the swiffer around. He would play with the swiffer for a little bit, then say 'away' and take it back to the closet where he found it!

Sometimes the swiffer would get 'stuck' and Karsten would come over to us and say 'stuck, stuck, stuck, stuck'. It can sound a lot like 'duck' so you have to listen carefully. :)
