First Pediatrician Visit

On Karsten's one week birthday, we went to the pediatrician to see why Karsten hadn't had a dirty diaper in more than 48 hours. He didn't seem to be in any pain, but we are nervous first time parents and as we mentioned it to other people, they seemed concerned, so we grew increasingly concerned. I figured a trip to the pediatrician was in order.

Plus, since he lost weight in the hospital, we were anxious to see if he was still gaining weight.

The verdict from the doctor was that Karsten needed to eat every two hours and that should help him have more wet and dirty diapers. He had also lost another ounce or two, and increasing the feedings would help him gain weight.

We go back on Thursday for a recheck - keep your fingers crossed!
