Roar - a halloween lion!

We had a wonderful Halloween today. Chuck and Shannon came over for a bit to see Karsten in his costume then we handed out candy to the trick or treaters that came to our door. My favorite trick or treater was Luigi (as in Mario and Luigi). Scott said "Hi Luigi" and the little boy said..."NO, my name is Tristan". LOL.

Chuck and Shannon brought Karsten a first Halloween goodie bag!

Karsten admiring his halloween book. He LOVES the sparkly cover!

Modeling his lion costume for us ---ROAR!

Hanging out waiting for the trick or treaters. It was a bit chilly but the lion costume kept him nice and toasty.

Happy Halloween

Karsten has been sporting his halloween gear all week - he hopes everyone has a great halloween tomorrow! Stay tuned for pics of his costume. No trick or treating in his future, just visiting grandparents and a few neighbors.

Chewing on the cute halloween bear that Mrs. Gail gave him!

It looks like he's hugging the bear but I think he's trying to get his hands coordinated to grab it. :)

Our lil pumpkin. Gaga (Karsten's great grandma) sent this to him. Super cute!

A giggle to make your day

The other night Karsten and Scott were 'talking'. Madison barked so Scott mimicked her and barked - Karsten thought it was hilarious and started giggling. It was so cute it had us cracking up.

Punkin Patch

We had big plans to head to the Louisburg Cider Mill today with Chuck and Shannon for some hot apple cider and yummy apple cider donuts and cute punkin pics for Karsten. Unfortunately, when we got out of church, the sky to the south (where we were headed) looked quite dark and ominous. A quick look at the radar showed that the rain was putting an end to our plans. So, we adjusted our plans and decided to head to a pumpkin patch further away from the rain. It turned out to be a nice day for the pumpkin patch - overcast and a bit chilly but not too crowded!

Sitting in the hollowed out pumpkin - not quite so sure about it.

Isn't this pumpkin photo opp cute?!

Headed out to pick our pumpkin

Turns out we chose a heavy pumpkin - oops!

Best of Friends

When we had Karsten everyone asked how Madison was doing. We tried really hard to make sure we were paying attention to Madison and not neglecting her. Often one of us would hold Karsten and the other one held Madison. I think it was a harsh adjustment that she was no longer an only child - but she's getting used to Karsten. We hope they'll be the best of friends!

We finally got Madison to stay put in a picture next to Karsten! A few treats did the trick and got her to look at the camera. I love how Karsten looks like a little grown up in this picture with his arm on the armrest and his legs crossed LOL.

Fall Fun

Saturday night we went to Kenna and Scott's annual hayride at Jon and Cheri's farm. It was a great evening - Karsten is too young to fully enjoy it but I know he will have great fun in many years to come. Thanks for including us Kenna and Scott - thanks so much for your hospitality Jon and Cheri!

Scott, Karsten and I having some snacks. It was chilly outside and I forgot about a coat so I was happy to have Karsten in the Baby Bjorn to keep me warm!

Karsten took a catnap at the beginning of the evening. He was all bundled up and cozy.

Eden had so much fun on the trampoline! Check out the way she landed - looks like she already has some cheerleader moves!

Have I ever mentioned that I love Karsten in hats?

Look at those pretty brown eyes!

The hayride! It was so much fun!

Karsten on the hayride. He rode in the Baby Bjorn again and kept me nice and warm. The movement of the hayride put him right to sleep.

After the hayride there was a bonfire and we had smores! Karsten slept through it all!

Kenna was a master at eating a super sticky smore all while taking pictures.

Finally awake!

We wanted to get a picture of Eden and Karsten - this was the best we got. Oh well, there will be many others in their future.

Eden snuggling Karsten - so cute!

Four Month Stats

We had Karsten's four month doctor appointment today and the doctor says he is doing great! He now weighs 16.2 lbs which is in the 75th percentile and is 24.75 inches tall which is in the 50th percentile.

We thought we would be starting Karsten on rice cereal now that he is (almost) 4 months old. However, when we asking questions I mentioned that I had several food allergies when I was little. She said to reduce the chance that he will have the same problems, let's wait until he is 6 months old to try solid food. He's obviously growing well so he will be a-ok with just formula and milk for a few more months.

He got several shots today so he was a little bit crabby and sore this afternoon. Luckily, Scott had the day off so he was able to stay home and take a nap with him to help Karsten feel better. After a nap he was feeling better but he still wasn't himself yet.

I took these pics when I got home from work - they're a good example of how Karsten wasn't himself after shots. Isn't his onesie cute-Lori got him this one as well as one that said My Mom Rules.

Happy Karsten - this is how he usually is.

Ummm - not so sure I'm happy. Uh oh...

Awwww, I'm definetely not happy now. No more pictures mom!

Happy Halloween

Since Halloween is quickly approaching, Karsten decided to break out his Halloween gear. When Kenna told me about this adorable outfit at Old Navy I couldn't resist it. I have a weakness for the layered look in baby clothes and aren't these stripes adorable? Stay tuned, there are a few more adorable Halloween outfits to come before the big day when Karsten unveils his Halloween costume.

Haircut?

As you've probably noticed from many of my recent posts, Karsten's hair is getting pretty long. Many people have told me that he needs a haircut. The logical side of me realizes this, but the new mom side of me says "nah, it's too early for a haircut, he's fine!" I can't explain why I think this...

So, what's your vote - haircut or no haircut?

I agree - he's really that cute

Kenna posted a sneak preview of Karsten's three month pictures and I agree with her....he's just that cute. I know I'm biased cause I'm his mom, but you have to admit those pictures are pretty cute! Check 'em out! Thank you Kenna!

Picture Perfect Cousins!

Before Kelli, David and the boys left last night, we had to get a picture of 'the boys'. I see lots of fun times playing together in their future!

Family Day

We had a fun filled day today - Linda, Leland, Kelli, David, Trent and Taylor are all in town because the guys had planned a guys day. The guys, sans Karsten, went to Union Station to hang out while the girls decided we would go to lunch then hang out here at home.

Karsten showing off how he loves to stand up

Taylor and Karsten. When Taylor came in the house he said "I remember before I hold Karsten I have to wash my hands!" How cute is that!

Trent and Karsten. Before Trent held Karsten, Taylor said "Did you wash your hands with soap"

Trent and Taylor watching the train display at Union Station

Aren't their hats cute - they went to a Disney Train exhibit at Union Station before they went to Science City and got these cool hats.

Taylor landing the space shuttle.

Leland giving Taylor pointers on his shuttle landing.

David set a new daily record for fastest shuttle landing.

The boys checked out the 'window to outer space' but thought the ramp was much cooler.

Building the St. Louis arch - a giant puzzle.

...then knocking it down.

Posing with the 'sewer crocodile'. Check out Trent's cute toothy smile - the Tooth Fairy has visited him a few times lately!

Digging for dinosaur bones - Trent loved this!

David riding the bike on a tightrope. The boys were too little so David did it! Rumor has it that he thought it was kinda scary and he's not sure he would do it again. :)

Taylor focusing on a serious game of checkers. I LOVE checkers - hopefully we'll get to play sometime!
