Friends

Kevin and Melissa came to stay with us on Saturday night - it was great to see them and catch up, it's been way too long! Karsten had a lot of fun playing with them on Sunday morning - Melissa taught Karsten about how much fun it is to hang upside down.

I think I will see this look a lot in the future - to me it looks like he's saying "Comon' mom...put the camera away."

Trying to find the perfect toy..

Kevin and Melissa aren't sure they will be able to make it back for Karsten's first bday party (we hope they will), so they brought his present! Karsten had a great time opening his very first birthday present. It is wrapped in newspaper because it is a tradition from Kevin - we even had a present wrapped in newspaper at our wedding many years ago. It was quite the conversation piece at the gift table at our wedding! :) Karsten wrapped his wedding gift to Kevin and Melissa in newspaper - had to carry on the tradition! Melissa added the bow - a nice addition, much more festive looking.

Karsten didn't leave the bow on his head for too long.

The package was filled with packing peanuts - after Karsten tried to eat one of them, he handed the rest that he picked up to Scott and then to Melissa. They eventually helped him dig out the present - or we could have been there all day as he found the peanuts one by one.

One he saw all of the pieces, he immediately started pulling out pieces. Before long the entire cart was empty an there were blocks all over the floor.

Much later after he got tired of playing with the blocks, Kevin chased Karsten a bit then put Kevin's hat on Karsten. Too cute - we'll need to get him his very own K-State hat in time for football season!
