Happy Birthday America!

We were having my parents over for a BBQ before fireworks and while we were at the pool, we decided we should make sangria.  After a quick run to the liquor store and gathering a bunch of fruit out of our fridge, the sangria was in process.  It turned out delicious!  Everyone loved it - we'll totally be making this again!

We're also still eating our blueberries that we recently picked, so when I saw this Red, White and Blue Trifle on a blog I follow, I knew we had to make it.  Fresh strawberries, blueberries, angel food cake and whipped cream - does it get much better than that?  We haven't been disappointed with a single recipe we have tried from this site, so I knew it would be fantastic.  The good new was it tasted as good as it looked!

After dinner, we headed out to get a good spot for the fireworks. This would be Liam's first fireworks since we were in Colorado for the 4th last year and they were in a burn ban which meant no fireworks.

His reaction when hearing some big booms for the first time.  For some reason, he wanted to bring his blankets with us - usually they stay at home and just come out at bedtime.

Happy Birthday America!

Can you tell he didn't want to stop playing for a picture?

Our attempt at a family picture.

Liam was very frustrated that his cup would not fit in the cupholder regardless of how hard he tried.

Glow sticks help kill time!

Fun for all ages! I think I blinded him with the flash!

I think Karsten was wearing ALL of the glow sticks by this point...

Except for these two that Liam managed to hang onto.

And finally the fireworks began. I love the wonder in his eyes.

And finally, the fireworks began!
