Karsten went to bed last night worn out and wth a runny nose. At 10pm, we heard the horrible croupy barking cough and the high pitched stridor sound. We went upstairs to check on him and in that short time he was having a coughing fit and gasping for air. We steamed up the bathroom to see if that would help, but no luck. He aways gets scared when this happens (can't say that I blame him), so he starts to cry. That makes things worse and then he has the stridor sound each time he breathes in.
Scott loaded him up and took him to the ER to get a steriod breathing treatment. Shortly after their arrival, he was getting the breathing treatment and the stridor sound had mostly stopped. Thankfully, he was able to get some sleep that night when he got home.
When he woke up, he still had some of the stridor sound and horrible barky cough. He's never had that issue before (unfortunately, we're becoming pros with croup), so we called his doctor and they said to come right in. She prescribed another steriod and by the end of the day it had taken care of the stridor and he was able to breathe and talk normally.
Is this the end of the sickness? Fingers crossed?
