Last Apples of the Season!

Karsten's football game for today was cancelled, so we made plans for all kinds of fall fun.  We started the day at the farmers market and got some sweet potatoes, butternut squash, honey and tomatoes.  Next, we planned to go apple picking at the local orchard - the perfect fall fun.  When I checked their Facebook page, they were picked out for the season but still had apples to buy.  I searched and found another orchard to check out, but when we showed up, they were closed! So, we went to our local orchard and picked apples out of a box rather than off trees.

We still had a great time enjoying all of the fall festivities including the popular photo opp.

We enjoyed some apple spice donuts - delish.  I called Karsten sugar lips because he ended up with half the sugar on his mouth.

Can you guess who tried to get a bunch of sugar on his lips as well?  But, check out those lashes!  Why aren't mine that long!

Shortly after I took these photos, I was taking a picture for a cute family in front of the pumpkin backdrop.  All of a sudden, Karsten burst into tears and kept saying (ok, yelling) 'it hurts, it hurts'. I tried to focus on taking their photo while Scott calmed him down and tried to find out what happened.  Karsten had swatted a bee away from him and apparently it stung him.  We couldn't see the stinger in his finger, and neither Scott or I had ever been stung so we weren't sure what it would look like.  We went back to the car, wiped off his finger with a wet wipe and put on a couple of drops of Lavender oil.  He said it still hurt, but when we got home, it had only swelled up a tiny bit and we still could not see a stinger.  We washed his hands and added a bit more Lavender oil and Tea Tree oil.  By this evening, he couldn't even find the spot on his finger where he had been stung!
