Happy Halloween

Each Halloween, Jenn and family come over for dinner and trick or treating.  We race through dinner and get everyone decked out for trick or treating.

I made cupcakes for these cute spider holders my mom got us.  Karsten and Eden had their cupcake picked out before dinner.

Each year we try to get a group picture.  I think this was one of our best -Karsten is smiling under that mustache, you just can't see it.

Then we were off with Karsten and Eden blazing the trail with Elam and Liam trying hard to keep up.

Mario and Wendy - aren't they cute!

Elam and Liam were carefully considering their candy choices when they got to choose.

Decisions, decisions

Trying hard to keep up with little legs. Scott is sporting our light up ears from Disney World.

I think this should be Jenn's new Facebook profile pic - don't you?

What?  I can't have all the candy I collected tonight?  That's a Kitcat in his pocket and a candy bar in his hand - he is a big fan of Halloween.

They couldn't stop eating candy long enough to take a picture.

It was fun to see Liam and Elam playing together so well!

What a fun night - can't wait till next year!

Super brothers

One of the schools that Scott works at has a Trick or Treat Village for the community.  It's always a good time and who doesn't love an extra reason to trick or treat!

Mario is ready to go!

This was as good as I could get of Mario and Luigi together - hopefully I will have better luck on Halloween!

Luigi couldn't wait to break into his candy.

There were games all throughout the hallways.  Liam enjoyed throwing the small basketball to knock over the toilet paper ghosts.  I think he would have put that basketball in his trick or treat bag if we had let him.

Mr. Independent was walking around the hallways on his own this year.  Last year he was stroller bound.

We got a quick family picture - it's blurry, Liam is more interested in his candy than the picture and Karsten looks sleepy - but hey, it's a memory captured.  Right?  :)

Family pictures

For Mother's Day and Father's Day this year along with my parents birthdays, we gave them a family photo session.  They got to choose if we did the photo session in the summer or if we waited until fall.  We waited until fall, but this meant that my favorite photographer was no longer in the area since she moved to Oklahoma.  She recommended another gal that she had used for her family pictures in the past.  I trusted both of them completely, but I admit I was nervous with a new photographer and two boys that were not fond of looking at the camera.

Liam was a challenge in this session - he was good at the beginning; however, after a bit, he would just say 'no' when we asked him to sit on someone's lap.  Thank goodness we started with the family picture and got a good one.

The boys with grandma and papa.

The boys crack me up in this picture - it's so them.

Karsten did a great job looking at the camera and smiling.  Liam was looking at the camera and I consider that a win. :)

I'm in love with our family picture.

And I didn't know she got both boys to smile in this pic - love it!

How adorable are my boys - we couldn't get a good one of Scott with both boys, but that's ok - these are awesome.

Love this one too!

We smile at the camera every time - no bribes required!

Kinda a cheesy smile, but I still love it (I'm saying that a lot!)

This makes me smile every time - it's like Liam is saying 'Jeez, are you STILL here'

My sweet blue eyed boy.

I think Courtney did a great job - can't wait to work with her again in the future!

Pumpkin Carving

Time to give a little personality to our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.  Karsten wanted to draw the face on the pumpkin.

Focusing hard on how he wanted the face to look.  Check out Liam watching intently in the background.

Let the pumpkin clean out begin.  I always hated this part when I was younger, I didn't like sticking my hand in the pumpkin to get all of the guts out.  Karsten stuck his hand in then remembered that he didn't like it either.

Karsten really wanted to help cut the face of the pumpkin, but the pumpkin was so tough he couldn't get the knife out of the pumpkin once he got it in there.

Liam was ready to dig into the pumpkin guts!

Yay, the pumpkin is done!

Then it was onto the next pumpkin before we lost attention of our helpers.  I love the look on Liam's face in this picture.  He got ahold of the pumpkin carving knife and was likely surprised it hadn't been taken away yet.  Don't worry - I was watching him carefully.

The final products!

Pumpkins aglow!

Pumpkin Patch

Fall is officially here now that we've been to the pumpkin patch!  This is our fourth year at this pumpkin patch and I hope we continue for many years - it will be fun to watch the boys grow and change every year with a picture in front of this truck.

Karsten wanted to ride the tricycles which meant that Liam wanted to ride too.

On a roll!

Next we checked out the animals.  Liam kept pointing at the pigs and laughing.

After the hay maze, Karsten climbed the hay mountain for a quick photo opp before other kids made it to the top.

Karsten loved this huge slide, but it was a really fast slide so he wanted us to catching him at the bottom so he wouldn't land on his bottom.  On his last trip down, he tried putting his hands out to slow himself down like he had seen other kids do.  I stuck my camera up the slide and caught this shocked expression on his face.

Grandma and Liam watching Karsten.

Swinging on the tire horses with Papa.

They had big drainage pipes on the ground that the kids could run through.  Liam had a great time running and looking for someone peeking in at the end.

While Liam played in the tubes, Karsten took a tractor ride.  I tried to put Liam in one of the cars but he was having none of it.

So he played on the slide and had Papa all to himself while Karsten was on the ride.

Just chillin'

Then it was back to the tubes - I think this would be his favorite thing about the pumpkin patch!  This is obviously not Liam's best side; but it shows how much fun we all had watching his reaction as he ran to the end of the tube.

Having a great time!

So tall!

This is my least favorite part of the pumpkin patch.  The boys can spend FOREVER playing trucks in the sand, and usually by this point, I'm ready to go on the hayride to pick our our pumpkin!

Howdy cowboy Karsten!

After a short hayride, we were ready to search for the perfect pumpkin.

This was the one for Liam - he tried so hard to pick it up because he saw Karsten pick one up.

Big decisions - which one to choose?

Excellent choice - that is a good looking pumpkin!

If only they had been looking at me, this would be my fav picture of the day.

After we picked our pumpkins, we loaded back onto the hayride to pay for our pumpkins and head home.  Another year, another fun trip to the pumpkin patch!
