Speech Therapy

Liam has received speech therapy since he was 18 months old and not saying much more than babbles and 'DA'.  His speech has grown by leaps and bounds with the assistance of our speech therapist, Ms. Paula.

Since Liam is turning three, he's no longer eligible for speech therapy through the current agency, so we had him evaluated by the school district to see if he still qualifies for speech.  Ms. Paula, his speech therapist didn't think he would qualify (either did we), but she said she had been surprised before.

Two weeks ago, Liam and I went to his evaluation and he played/talked to the district speech therapist for about 45 minutes.  I was anxious because they went off without me, and I hoped he was cooperating.  She said he did great and sometimess she had a hard time getting a word in because he had so much to say.

Today we had his evaluation and received the great news that his speech skills are on par for his age!  Great news!  We'll continue to work with him to pick up some of the sounds he is still missing, but it's great news to hear that he's right where he should be for his age. Way to go Liam!!
