It's a farm, not a zoo

Gail was closed on Monday to recover from foot surgery (ouch!), so I took the day off with the boys. I kept my fingers crossed for a nice day so we could go to the petting zoo, and we lucked out! I was nervous about taking both boys by myself - I think it was more of a mental block because Karsten minds very well and doesn't run off and Liam is very laid back.

I hadn't told Karsten we were going, because there was a chance of rain and I didn't want to get his hopes up if we couldn't go.  Monday morning dawned cloudy and overcast, but there was no rain so we got ready and off we went.  I told Karsten we were going to a zoo (think petting zoo) and he was excited. When we pulled up in the parking lot and he saw the red barn, he said 'Mommy, this is NOT a zoo, this is a farm'

After we established that he still wanted to go to the Farm, we set out.

Karsten was entrallled with the little ducks but wouldn't let them eat out of his hands.

We went to a meet and greet with Ms. Donkey, Rachel.

Having so much fun!

He waited in line to pet Rachel - he did so good, I was worried he wouldn't want to pet her.

I was wrong, he wanted to per her multiple times!

Checking out the piggies.   They were more interested in eating than talking to us.

But this guy wanted to talk to us.  I bought food for the animals and Karsten had fun giving them it to them; however, I had to let them eat out of my hand first.  EEK - I was not excited about that, but here is proof that I did it.

Liam was along for the ride and had fun watching everything.

Feeding the goats

Me next, me next!

Showing me that there were flowers in that barrel.

Mesmerized by the waterfall

Trying to find our car through the peephole.

He had so much fun with these slides.  He did well going up the stairs, across the little bridge and choosing the slide to go down.  There were some bigger kids on the slide, but Karsten did a good time holding his own and not getting pushed around!

Watching the bunnies - Karsten said 'those bunnies are like the bunny that eats Papa's flowers'.  Hahaha - yep, sure are!

And what's a trip to the farm without some ice cream?  Who cares that it was noon and we hadn't eaten lunch yet - lunch can come second.  :)

A great day at the 'farm'!
