Each Day Something New: Happy New Year

We had Jenn, David, Eden and Elam over for New Years Eve. This should be the third annual NYE party; however, Elam was sick last year, so it's actually the second annual party. When the snow started in the morning, I was worried that the roads would get bad and ruin our fun. Thankfully the roads stayed clear for most of the day and they were able to make it to our house.

We had a fun evening of food, drinks, Wii and chatting planned. Karsten was excited to play with his friends!

This makes me smile every time I see it. I love Eden's expression and you can't see it, but David's leg was kicked up behind Jenn. Hilarious!

Having dinner! We made brisket, roasted cauliflower, and mandarin orange salad. Jenn and David brought all sorts of yummy cheeses, eggrolls and crab rangoon and avocado/tomato/mozzarella dip. Add in cookies, peanut brittle and puppy chow for dessert and we had SO much food! It was all fantastic and we all ate way too much!

After dinner, it was present time for the kids.

Then it was time for Liam and Karsten to open their present.

Karsten was ready to go take a bath as soon as he unwrapped the bath markers. He said 'it's bath time Daddy, let's go!' LOL.

I had grand plans of finding an old pic of Jenn and I to post in comparison to this...but many of those pictures are not digital, so you'll just have to use your imagination.

Karsten became obsessed with Hungry Hungry Hippos when we visited my Uncle Dave's house and he got to play. Shortly after Eden and Elam arrived, he had talked them into playing Hungry Hungry Hippos with him. I think this was game 9876 of the evening.

He convinced Jenn to play as well.

The kids were having so much fun playing and were really in a good mood, so we kept letting them stay up. As it got closer to midnight, they started to get sleepy. Around 11:30pm, Eden asked to watch a movie and before we knew it she had Elam on one side and Karsten on the other. They were watching Star Wars and Karsten asked a bunch of questions that Eden easily answered all of them. We're devoid of most Star Wars knowledge at our house.
