Last basketball game

Hard to believe Karsten's basketball season is already over - seems like it just began in early December.  He's really had a good time playing and learning more about basketball.

The coaches, the dad's of two of his friends, have done a great job teaching the basic basketball skills to the boys. You can see they've really improved since their first game - starting to understand defense, offense and some of the basic rules.

Thankfully, the refs are very helpful at reminding the kids what they are supposed to be doing. This woman has ref'd two of their games, and she does a great job with reminding the kids to keep their hands up when they're on defense and passing to their teammates when they're on offense.  One of the kids fell down and she even reminded the other kids to help him up - teaching important skills!

I love to watch him play, especially when he shoots the ball.  He likes to be sure that his hands are right on the ball and that his feet are perfectly placed - at the beginning of the season, he had time to do this, but now the game moves faster and he's had to adapt to move more quickly.  He doesn't make every shot but when he does, he looks so proud of himself.

What a great group of boys - I look forward to watching them play for many years to come!

The last team they played was another kindergarten team from their school, so we wanted to get a shot of both teams.

Scott wasn't able to make the game because he had a conference, and my dad was out of town, so the boys, Grandma and I went to have ice cream to celebrate.  Karsten wore his medal in to the restaurant and had it on until he started eating his ice cream cone, but he wanted to be sure it didn't get dirty so he took it off.

Ice cream was a great way to end a wonderful season!
