Another surgery for Madison

Madison tore her ACL on one of her back legs in 2008. She had surgery and had a long, hard recovery. She started limping on her 'good' back leg before Christmas and I had a sinking feeling that she had torn her ACL on her good leg as well. A trip to the vet confirmed my suspicions and we had to decide if we were going to do another surgery. We put the decision (and expense) off for as long as we could; but eventually she wasn't putting any weight on that foot and seemed to be in pain. We felt bad that she was in pain, so we decided to have the surgery for her.

She went in for surgery yesterday and stayed overnight at the vet. She got to come home today and is supposed to have very limited use of her leg for two weeks, then we can steadily increase use.

Karsten checking on Madison when we got home. He was confused about why 'puppy' was in her 'haus'.

Poor Madison - she has five stiches in her leg and they had to shave her whole leg.

Even Madison has her very own quilt. I'm sure it's helping her rest more comfortably!

She's looking at me like 'could you please quit taking pictures of me. the flash hurts my eyes.'
