Karsten has had the same bedtime routine for a long time - we brush teeth, read books, give hugs and kisses then go to bed. Lately, when I try to cover Karsten up with a blanket, he says "NOOOOO" and points to another blanket. I'll cover him up with the other blanket then he is a-ok.
It's funny that he never displayed a preference about any kind of blanket until recently. Tonight, we went through several blanket choices and he said "NOO" to all of them. I assumed that he didn't want to be covered up (and that I would cover him up once he fell asleep) so I said goodnight and left the room. As soon as the door shut he started crying and saying "Blanket, blanket, blanket". I ran through the blanket choices again, he vetoed all of them, then selected the first one I offered.
Stalling the inevitable sleep, being opinionated, confused about what he wants - who knows. Oh how I wish I could better understand how his thought process works! :)
