We were going to decorate slice and bake sugar cookies (not the same as Grandma's sugar cookies, but Pillsbury does such a good job, why mess with a good thing) but there were none to be found when we went to the grocery store. Turns out lots of people wanted sugar cookies this week. (shocker, I know)
We decided we could make sugar cookies from scratch - how hard could that be, right? We found a recipe online that got great reviews and I set out to mix up the batter. It recommended the dough be refrigerated overnight, so we diligently followed the recipe.
The next day we got the dough and got the cookie cutters out - if we were going to make them from scratch, we may as well go all out and use cookie cutters too. The dough was SUPER sticky so the small amount of flour I had spread out didn't work. I forgot to flour the rolling pin so the dough caked onto the rolling pin creating an even bigger mess. By this time, Liam was crying because he wanted to eat and I had had enough of these darn cookies. Scott saved the day and floured everything so the dough could be rolled out and cookies cut out.
Karsten had fun with the cookie cutters - to him, it was just like playing with play doh!
