Happy Easter

We woke up on Easter morning and it was snowing.  That was a new one, even for the unpredictable weather here.  Scott made cinnamon rolls the night before, and we were going over to my parents for breakfast before church.

I was getting ready when I heard a crash.  There were no tears, so I didn't think it was from the boys, I ran down the stairs and found Scott picking up the pan of cinnamon rolls that had just fallen on the floor.  Thankfully, the bottom of the pan landed on the ground, so the rolls just got tossed around, they never fell out of the pan. WHEW!

We got everyone wrangled and ready to go and were halfway to my parents when I realized that we had forgotten the fruit we had promised to bring.  I also forgot the battery for the camera - had the memory card, but no battery! We were on a roll this morning!

The boys were mesmerized by the large snowflakes we saw at several points!

Since it was snowy and wet outside, the Easter bunny hid eggs inside my parents house while we were at church.  That sneaky bunny!  Wen we were on the way home from church, we knew the bunny had been there because we saw a neighboring house doing an egg hunt outside.

The boys divided the eggs so everyone had the same number, then eagerly opened them to check out their loot!

The Easter bunny stuffed Lego minifigures in the eggs - they were a big hit!

After playing with the new Lego guys for a while, they were ready to try out the Super Hero Plates from their Easter basket.

I've seen Fashion plates before and always thought they looked fun, but I had never seen the superhero version before!

The boys loved choosing the head, body and legs for their superhero.  Then, they could color their masterpiece.

I think this one will be a hit - hopefully they'll enjoy creating all sorts of superheros!

We ended the day with a delicious dinner - ham, potatos, and deviled eggs, oh my! We had a great day celebrating, hope you had a wonderful Easter with your family and friends!

Easter Pictures

One of the reasons I often fail at blogging big events like holidays or vacations is because I get overwhelmed by sorting through the photos and choosing the best ones.  This time, I was determined to get through my Easter photos and share a few with you.

Marriage - by Liam

Tonight at dinner, Liam was telling us that his friend Clara at school was going to marry him.  I said 'oh yeah, how do you know that?'  He said "She told me.  But then she decided she was going to marry Bennett instead, so I think we'll just do eeny meeny miney mo."

Karsten's dino land

The dinosaur land that Karsten drew this weekend has a new resident, the dino truck.  His arrival to the new land was a bit tumultous; however, Karsten had a plan for everyone to be happy.  I tried to snap the photo before they noticed me, but I really wish I had gotten a video to remember their dialogue.

Sporty Saturday

Saturday morning dawned cold and rainy.  We had planned to go to an Easter Egg hunt at my work, but when we saw the weather and rain, we decided to stay home in our PJs, have pancakes for breakfast and play.

Liam got a pot with seeds in his goody bag at preschool.  It came with a dirt puck that you just added to water in order to hydrate it.  Once that was done, Scott told the boys they could pick the dirt up and put it into the pot.  Both boys said "ewww, no way, you do it!" Hopefully the plant will like it in our kitchen for a while until it's warm enough to permanently live outside.

The boys couldn't agree what they wanted to play together, so they each decided to do something different, far away from each other.  Karsten's project was pretty cool - he taped five pieces of paper together and was doing to draw a dinosaur world, then put the dinosaurs in the world.  It reminded me of building a diorama in elementary school - except his is flat.

Liam came to check out the progress and was instructed not to touch ANYTHING!

Liam's project (with Scott) was equally cool.  They built an elaborate home for the dinosaurs.  This isn't the average Lego house that I usually build, this thing has towers, balconies and super tall walls.

The rain stopped shortly after noon which was lucky for us since Karsten had his first soccer game of the season today.

This league is going to be a big change from the last time he played - the kids are older (obviously) and the game moves very fast.  Karsten gets very focused on using the footwork techniques the coach has taught them, and often will miss his chance at kicking the ball because he's trying to get in the appropriate position.  He'll get it - the most important part is that he is having fun!

Liam entertained himself by running around for a while, but a thirty minute practice followed by a thirty minute game is a long time for a little brother.

But, lucky me, Liam found this sweet little clover for me and proudly presented with love.

On the way home, the boys discovered a sheet of foam stickers that had fallen out of Liam's Easter bag from school.  Do you like their disguises?  Never a dull moment around here.  Never!

Good Friday Fun

We all had the day off today, so it was the perfect family fun day.  We had a lazy morning to let the weather warm up a bit - the boys had fun playing and Scott and I got caught up on some cleaning and organizing.

While we were cleaning and organizing, the boys were doing the opposite - the sink in Liam's bathroom became a swimming pool for his animals, there was a Lego explosion (or so it seemed), stuffed animal games, and there was a yellow brick road of quilts down the hallway. You had to walk on the quilts or you would get eaten by sharks!

After lunch, we went miniature golfing. If you ask Karsten what fun activity we should do together, he will always say miniature golf.  Thankfully, the crazy weather we've been having was cooperative, it was sunny and almost 60.

Liam is a crazy man when it comes to minature golf.  He swings at full force with that little club.  Scott tried several times to show him how to swing so he wasn't just slaming his club into the ground (good thing it wasn't real golf or we would have left some serious divots!).  By the end of the game, he was doing better!

The obstacles are the boys favorite part of this course - especially if we get to hit the ball through the obstacle!

It's always especially funny when my ball bounces off the obstacle and lands in the nearby grassy area.  I can never get the ball through the obstacle the first time!

Karsten had a great game - he was doing a really good job putting and probably got the same score as I did!

Don't get in Liam's way when his ball is close to the hole - he's one determined guy!

Sun a fun afternoon together - glad we all had the day off together!

Karsten asked me to take this picture so we could show you that we were playing mini golf!

This hole was hilarious - there was a slight hill after you went through the obstacle and the hole was on top of the hill.  On this putt, Liam made it through the obstacle, but went over the hill.

On his second or third putt, he thought he was going to get the ball in the hole, but then the ball started to roll back down the hill.  His instinct was for his whole body to dive after the ball to keep it from rolling down the hill.  When he got up, he said 'I missed it!'  LOL.

Next up, our traditional Good Friday dinner with my parents - a great end to a fun day!

Easter Party #2

Scott got to go to Liam's first Easter party yesterday and I went to his party today.  The weather yesterday was much better, so they were able to have the egg hunt outside yesterday, but today the eggs were hunted in the library and art room.

I signed up to bring the sweet treats, and we made chocolate covered pretzel sticks.  Easy, but still cute.  My first idea of rice crispie Easter eggs was a bit too much to attempt on a work/school night.  When they sat down to eat, Liam proudly announced 'MY DAD MADE THESE!'

Isn't his Easter shirt adorable?  The boys love this truck carrying the Easter egg!

Liam's class getting ready to hunt eggs - all of the wandering eyes were scoping out the egg hiding spots or what goodies they had in their bags!

Then, it was finally time for the main event - the egg hunt!

He moved too quickly to get a good picture of his egg hunting.

What a fun party!  I love the little pipe cleaners as the whiskers for the bunny!

Liam and his little friend John!  Watch out - these two are playing t-ball together this spring!

Since Karsten had a half day today, Scott picked up Karsten, then Liam and I met them at Fronteras for a quick lunch before I headed back to work.  Such a fun day - and we all have tomorrow off!  YAY!
