Caucus

We've been following the presidential election, and decided that we wanted our vote to count.  This was the first time either of us had participated in a caucus, and since we decided on Friday night that we were going to go, we didn't think to check into pre-registration.  That tiny detail could have saved us two hours!

Can you see the line of people behind Karsten?  That was near the front of the line entering the school - at the time, we didn't know we would have another 20 minute wait once we got into the building.

Thankfully, it was a beautiful day outside and the boys had lots of  fun running back and forth in the grass.

The volunteers had brought out chairs for people to sit on if they were having trouble standing.  People would move along and the chairs stayed along the side and the boys had lots of fun sitting on the chairs on each other.

When we made it into the school, we broke out the phones as the source of entertainment.  It was lunchtime and we were all starting to get hungry - thankfully I had a granola bar in my purse that tided the boys over until we were done.  They were so, so good.  Two hours in a long line is not what we had in mind when we thought we would drop in and vote - but, I'm glad we did it and made sure our vote was heard.
