The doctor was happy with his stats and eating habits. His gross and fine motor skills are right on track. His speech seems to be a bit slower than we may expect. At 15 months she said he should have 3 to 5 words and we think he really has two and one of them is a sign. He says 'DA' for most everything and knows the sign for more. He does associate DA with Scott, because he will yell it when he sees Scott walking by and wants his attention. She suggested that we try to be very intentional for a month about talking to him about the objects he is seeing/using/playing with in order to help him learn these words. I remember doing this with Karsten and I probably haven't done it as much as I should have with Liam. I had hoped that listening to Karsten and I chatter constantly would do it. Lesson learned.
So, stay tuned. We're going to work with him and see how many words we can pick up in the next month. If we haven't made much progress, we'll contact Infant Toddler Services for assistance to help him catch up. We'll get there - look at this face, it's pure determination.
