Christmas Countdown 14 - Day 14 [Sleigh ride}

Scott and I were going to a Christmas concert today, so the boys got to spend a few hours with Grandma and Papa.  We dropped them off in the morning so we could go to brunch before the concert.

It's always nice to have some kid-free time together. We went to one of our favorite new restaurants on the Plaza, Cooper's Hawk Winery, and had a great brunch with a nice view of the Plaza.  And what's a weekend brunch without mimosas?

This was our first trip to the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, and it is a beautiful building.  The interior and exterior of the building are amazing.  We sat front and center at the concert, it was a bit close since we couldn't see the back of the orchestra, but I enjoyed seeing everything up close and watching the musicians.  It made me miss my days of playing the flute.

It was a wonderful concert - many Christmas classics, complete with a singalong at the end.

The Kauffman Center has a great view of the city, and it's a picturesque landmark on the KC skyline.

After the concert, we ran a few errands then headed back to get the boys so we could get ready for the second part of our day.  Our neighborhood had a sleigh ride around the neighboorhood to enjoy everyone's Christmas lights.  It was such a nice day for this - in the low 50's, not frigidly cold as it has been for past sleigh rides!

During the sleigh ride, some of the kids started to sing Christmas carols, and soon everyone joined in.  When the song stopped, we heard Liam singing softly to himself.  He told Scott he was singing Jingle Bells - so cute.

Check out Liam's eye - see the bruise on his eyelid?  You would think that would hurt a lot and it would have caused a lot of screaming, right?  Nope, we're not even completely sure how he did it.  He and Karsten were play wresting and chasing each other and he also fell while running.  Life with boys...

Karsten and I enjoying the sleigh ride.

The horses that pulled the sleigh had a ton of energy, many times the driver had to slow them down because they started to go too fast.  It's pretty amazing those two horses could pull an entire 'sleigh' full of 7 rows of people!

When we got off the sleigh, it was just starting to sprinkle.  We drove home and it was sprinkling, and when we got into the house it turned into a downpour!  I hope the next group of people was able to finish their ride and not get too drenched!
