Billy Joel

Jenn and I were estatic when we heard tha Billy Joel would be returning to KC for a concert. We saw him when he was here several years ago with Elton John.

We made an evening of it and met Jenn and David for dinner at Gram & Dunn before the concert - one of my favorites!

We timed it perfectly, by the time we got inside the Sprint Center and found our seats, the concert began with 10 minutes.  He didn't have an opening act which was kind of nice that the concert would get started immediately.

When I ordered tickets, I took a chance that the section to the immediate right of the stage would have a good view.  Thankfully, it was a good chance to take and we had a great view!

Billy Joel made several jokes about his age and appearance - he said he's been touring for 50 years!

There was some outstanding people watching at the concert. There was a guy one row in front of us that was VERY into the concert.  He played  a mean air guitar and air piano - you get the idea.

The piano was on a turning circle, so Billy Joel would play for each section of the crowd for a while. When he finished up with Piano Man, I started thinking of all the songs he hadn't played yet, I was hoping for a long encore.  I wasn't disappointed, he came back out for an encore and played some of my favs - Only The Good Die Young, Uptown Girl, It's Still Rock N Roll to Me, Allentown and We Didn't Start the Fire.  You know...all the classics!

Having a great time together!  What a fun evening and a fantastic concert.  He played for 2.5 hours!

Thanks to my parents for watching the boys - they had a fun evening as well!  When Scott dropped them off on Friday, Liam said 'You can go now, bye!'.
