Since the boys spent the night at my parents, Scott and I went to a local nursery to get plants for our garden and flowers for the yard. While Scott went to Home Depot to get mulch, I went to pick up the boys. As you may guess, they didn't want to come home with me - Grandma and Papa's house is way more fun. I was able to convince them that an afternoon of planting the garden and flowers would be fun.
While I was picking up the boys, Scott split the day lillies in half. I liked how full they looked, but apparently that's not good for them and they won't bloom as well.

Scott had plenty of things for the boys to help with - dig holes, spread mulch, find worms!

Karsten was thrilled to discover a bunch of worms. The worms got named before they were released back into the planter and garden.

Discussing what they were going to do next.

We put the boys to work weeding the evergreens and mulch. Scott worked on planting the garden while the boys rode their scooters and played on the 'fort'. They came down occastionally to find some worms or roly polys to add to the pot.

It was a busy day, all of this got planted in pots and the garden.

The garden - ready to grow! We're borrowing that owl from Gail and Steve to see if it scares the squillels, bunnies and birds away from our plants. We planted 7 tomato plants (one not pictured), carrots, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, green beans, eggplant, peppers, kale, basil, rosemary, cilantro, thyme and oragano. Oh, we also have a pot with potatoes in it. That was kind of a fluke when we had a neglected potatoe that had started to sprout, so we decided to see if we could grow it!

Our peach tree is doing well this year - hopefully all of these baby peaches will grow into big peaches that we can eat.
