Exploring

Saturday was forecast to be a beautiful day, so we decided to check out the arboretum.  We've wanted to do it for a while, but never made the time.  This was a bit of a stretch for me - I'm not really an outdoor person.

I had forgotten how beautiful all of the flowers were at the arboretum.  I kept trying to get a picture of the boys with the beautiful flowers, but they wouldn't have it.  Karsten liked hoping from bench to bench when I would get ready to take a picture of him.

There were lots of little things to admire and check out.

There were HUGE fish in the pond.

This was as close as I got to a picture of the two of them together.

Liam loved running around out of the stroller, just like Karsten.

We found this cool waterfall next to one of the trails.

Checking out where we should go next.

Exploring on the trail.

Checking out the stream.  I think Liam would have jumped into the water if we had let him.  He's a bit more daring than Karsten.  Karsten keeps close tabs on Liam - see him watching to make sure Liam doesn't go too far forward and fall into the water?  What a good big brother!

So excited to explore and see what's next!

More water to examine and watch.

There had been heavy rains for the days prior to our visit, and the water in the lake had gotten out of its banks which caused some of the fish to get into the streams that had very low water.  This group was trying to catch a fish to move it back to the big lake.

Then we took the sculpture trail.  We thought we were on our way to the train garden, but were pleasantly surprised by all of the sculptures.

Karsten's new friends.

How cool were these flowerpot people.

Someone just spotted the train garden!

Saying DAAAAA to tell us about the trains!

The boys could have watched the train go around and around for hours.

Liam wanted to be sure that we saw the trains going by!

There were two spots on the sidewalk where the train passed through the sidewalk.  The boys would watch the trains coming toward them, then run over and watch the train pass under their feet.
