Our little cooks

We've been trying to make things from scratch and cut back on processed foods.  This means there has been a lot of opportunity for the boys to help us cook and bake.

Liam helped me mix brownies.  These were from a box - I said 'try' and cut back on processed foods.


Scott's school has a back to school BBQ tomorrow, and brownies are our contribution to the potluck.  We weren't feeling confident enough in an untested brownie recipe to try making them from scratch when we planned to share them with people.


Bread from the breadmaker has spoiled us - I don't even remember the last time we bought bread.  This bread makes the best toast, grilled cheese and sandwiches!  Karsten liked watching the bread machine turning and pulling the dough.  The downside is that the breadmaker is quite noisy.  We inherited it from my Grandma, so it's been around for a while, but it still does a great job making bread!
