Family Fun

Our hotel offered a breakfast, so we headed down to grab a bite before we headed to Grandma's house.  Taylor and Trent had already eaten, so they helped Karsten and Liam with their breakfast.

I think Karsten was still half asleep, but he and Trent were chatting while he ate.

After a short drive, we headed to Grandma's house and she got to meet Liam for the first time!

Liam was very excited to see Grandma and Papa!  Grandma had surprises for the boys - a book for Liam and cars for all of the boys to play with!

Kelli and David recently got back from a cruise, so we all had fun hearing about their vacation and looking at the photo book she made.  It made us miss cruising sooo much - it's been far too long!

Liam wasn't letting Grandma get too far out of his sight - he was usually sitting on her lap or playing next to her.

I was playing with settings on my camera and Taylor proved to be the perfect subject.  Look at those beautiful brown eyes - such a handsome boy!

One of the other boys was playing with an iPad, so Liam said 'me pad mama?' How could she resisit that request?

Candyland made an appearance here.  Apparently Morgan, like Karsten, often has her own interpretation of the rules, so we thought this may be interesting.  They all played together really well - no issues at all!

Then we headed to a local restaurant for lunch and the rest of the family joined us!  It was just Trent's birthday this week, so everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.

Trent, Taylor and Tyler had a great time playing together.

And Karsten spent some time checking out what the big boys were doing.

This little guy belongs to one of Scott's cousins - he was a cutie!  I thought he was almost Liam's age, but he's almost a year younger!

This is Grandma with all of her kids.

There were some laughs as we tried to get everyone ready for the picture.

Grandma and all except one of her Grandchildren.

And here is Grandma with almost all of the Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren (there were two missing).

All this family fun doesn't leave any time for a nap, so Liam fell asleep in the car on the way back to the hotel.  The plan was for the kids to swim in the hotel pool, but Liam fell back asleep on the bed in our room, so I stayed with him while Scott and Karsten went down to the pool.

Unfortunately, I forgot to bring Karsten's water wings so he was a little limited to what he could do in the pool.  Apparently before Liam woke up and we came downstairs, Karsten had lost his grip on the edge and went under and Scott sprinted over to pull him out. Thankfully Scott was watching Karsten so carefully.

Liam was getting braver and got pretty close to the water.  Don't worry, we were right next to him making sure he didn't topple in.

Taylor was happy to see that Liam was awake!

Trent did a great job helping Karsten in the pool and hanging out in the hot tub with him where Karsten could touch the bottom.

And this group kept a close eye on everyone!

We picked up a humidifier when we got Karsten's prescription filled at Walmart. Karsten's doctor had recommended it in order to help fend off the croup, so we gave it a try.  Thankfully, while Karsten did a fair amount of coughing, he did not have any croupy coughing or stridor.  WHEW!

Karsten was worn out and fell asleep pretty quickly.  However, tonight was Liam's turn to be difficult.  It took over an hour for him to get to sleep - he was mad, mad, mad that he had to go to bed. I guess our boys are creatures of habit - they sure sleep best in their own beds!
