Soccer - Season 2

We had planned for Karsten to try out t-ball this year to see if he liked it better than soccer.  We were all ready to sign him up when he announced that he didn't want to play t-ball, he wanted to play soccer.  He had previously told us that he would just 'play soccer in our backyard', so we were surprised by this turn of events.  Luckily, we had some time, so we kept asking him every week or so and he always said soccer.

We got to his first game, and since we didn't know his team or coach, we asked a group if they were on field G1, they said nope, this is G2.  So, we went to the field next door and waited for the rest of the blue team to show up.  We waited....and waited...the red team started to practice and still we waited.

Liam and Karsten played soccer with Scott.  I looked back over at field G2 and told Scott that I thought it was his team.  They had 7 boys and with Karsten, they would have a full team.  Plus, they were wearing blue too!  We ran over and asked the coaches name - sure enough, it was his team.

We had a good laugh that we had been on the field next door for a good 10 minutes before we figured it out.  Oh well, we got there and he didn't miss too much.

Guess who wanted to play?

This coach seems much more knowledgeable than last year's coach.  I think he coaches his daughter's team as well, so he's not new to this.

What?  You talkin' to me?

Karsten did a great job kicking the ball.  He is the oldest on his team, we asked that he be put with the pre-k kids rather than the kindergarteners.

He was so excited every time he got the ball - he scored four times!

A little reminder about which direction they were trying to score in.  That's a major point of confusion at these games.

Just a few action shots...

Being a soccer fan is hard work - it requires snacks.

Capri Sun's were the snack that a parent brought for post-game snacks. We don't have juice at our house, so anytime Karsten gets juice, he gulps it down - it's one of his favorite treats.

Successful first game of soccer - he had a great time and loved telling everyone about how he scored the most goals.
