Sending cheer

Almost two weeks ago I received word that my friend Tanner's two year old daughter was having heart problems and was at the children's hospital here.  His wife set up a Caring Bridge site to keep family and friends up to date on Josephine's progress.  As I read their posts over the next few days, my heart broke for them as I read about how her little heart was failing and she was becoming even more critically ill.  We're so blessed to have two, healthy boys and I pray that little Josephine's heart heals itself and she doesn't have to have any kind of surgery.  As of this posting, she seems to be making improvements, is off the ventilator and many medicines; however, they could use your thoughts and prayers to help her get better.

Liz, Travis and I wanted to send something to let them know we were thinking of them, but weren't sure what would be helpful.  We settled on some books and coloring book to keep her entertained while restricted to her bed.

My mom, along with some of her friends, volunteers her time to create quilts that are donated to kids at a local hospital.  Pretty cool, huh.  They receive thank you notes from the families telling them how the quilts really brightened their child's day.  She volunteered to make a quilt to send to Josephine and she created this beauty in one day.  I hope it brightens their day.

We wrapped up the package and the final touch was a picture Karsten was coloring for her.

He wanted to know her favorite color - since I didn't know the answer, I suggested pink.

Every picture is better with a Mickey, Minnie and Pluto sticker, right?  By the time he finished, we had added about 10 happy face stickers as well.  It was a masterpiece!
