2 years

I was thrilled with the results of Liam's two year photo session.  He was not very cooperative during our recent family pictures with my parents, so I was really worried about how it would go.  Karsten was sick, so Liam and I went to pictures without Scott and Karsten.

We had Liam's two year well check recently and everything checked out a-ok.  He weighs 33lbs which is in the 96%, his height is 36 inches which is in the 85th percentile and his head is 20 inches in the 98th percentile!

His doctor was pleased to hear about the improvements Liam is making with speaking.  Of course he was shy during the appointment and wouldn't talk to her.  He's still not on par with where he should be with his speaking skills; however, he's quickly closing the gap as he keeps learning new words and combining more words.  He understands completely and does a good job piecing together what he wants to communicate with the words and signs that he has.

In the past two to three months, he has started to have quite the personality and mind of his own.  Gone is the little boy who would dutifully follow his big brother around and do whatever Karsten said.  This still happens on occasion, but he's far more likely to tell Karsten NO, or go get a toy and want to play with it instead of what Karsten chose.

He's a big fan of trains these days, but the stubborn little guy won't say 'choo choo' or 'tain' or any variation of the word train.  He sticks with brmmmm brmmm (a sounds for train).  Sometimes I think he honestly chooses not to say something like train when we continue to ask him.

Really, you ask?  This innocent little guy, stubborn?  Surely not.  :)

He has a contagious laughter and is such a happy little guy.

He loves to give kisses.  If you stub your toe and cry out in pain, he's by your side making kissing noises and leaning his head on your leg to give you a partial hug.

He loves his big brother.  If he gets up in the morning before Karsten, he'll put his hands up and say 'Yah Yah" in a questioning voice?  Yah Yah is his name for Karsten - we weren't thinking ahead to give Karsten an easy name to say!  The other day, Liam and I got home and he walked over to Karsten and gave him a hug.  I can't wait to watch the relationship between these two grow over the years.

He's growing so fast - how are we going to keep up with these boys when they're teenagers?

He LOVES Donald Duck - he calls him 'Duck Duck'

Weeeeeee!

He'll also blow kisses with a wide open hand when someone leaves - it's pretty adorable.

He's very set in his ways - if someone sits in his seat at Gail's when they watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, he demands that they move.  If the door is not shut while we read books at night, he gets down and shuts it.  We have a little creature of habit!

He still loves his blankies - his eeee eee (aka monkey) and the blue minkey blanket I made for him.

He has learned his brother's skill of avoiding my camera, which is why I am so thrilled that Courtney captured these adorable smiles.  He smiles a lot but they're tough to catch with my camera.

He enjoys doing puzzles - his current favorites are dump trucks and emergency vehicles.

He likes to climb on things.  He's very resourceful if he wants to get to something and will push a chair over to something and climb on it.

He likes to push buttons on phones, remotes, ipads, etc.  I think he sees us using these things and wants to be like us.

While he is a really good eater, he is currently on a kick where he won't eat certain vegetables.  If carrots or green peppers are hiding in his food, he'll likely pick them out.

He wants to walk and be independent.  Gone are the days of carrying him in or out of places like Gail's - he wants to do it himself.  You're probably saying...Ummm, yeah Lisa, he is two, he should be walking on his own.  Well, yes and in general he does, but there are times when it's easier (in the rain) and quicker (we're running late) to carry him.

His hair is getting lighter in patches - the hair on the top of his head is darker and the bottom near his neck is lighter.

He loves trucks and all things with wheels!

He's such a precious little guy and we love him so much.  I can't believe he's already two and I can't wait to continue watching he and his personality grow!
