Swimming Saturday

Today was the first day of swimming lessons for the boys.  This will be Karsten's third year of lessons and Liam's first year.  Once Liam had his shoes on, he was ready to hit the road.

Scott had a minor procedure done on his leg on Friday, and per doctor's orders, he wasn't to get in the pool.  This means that I had to take his spot in swimming class with Liam.  Now, if you know me well, you know that I. Don't. Swim.  I'm allergic to chlorine, so when I was growing up, I didn't swim because the water made me sick. Consequently, I can't swim. So, the idea of me taking Liam to swimming lessons was a bit comical.  Who would teach ME to swim. :)  Luckily, the pool was salt water and not deep, so Liam and I survived.

Liam wasn't so sure of the water at first, but after we splashed a bit, he started to relax (and so did I).  By the time we went around the lazy river, he would float on his back or front.

Karsten's class was at the same time as Liam's lesson, so Scott was taking pictures of both classes.  At first Karsten was scared to get in the water by himself, but once he was in, he warmed up to the teacher.  We had to remind him a few times that he should be listening to the teacher and not talking.

His favorite part was retrieving the rings.

At the end of class they played ring around the rosey - pretty darn cute.

We then had a relaxing day at home.  When we were cleaning up lunch dishes it was too quiet.  Liam was napping, and I came around the corner to find Karsten playing with his dinosaurs and necklaces.  Turns out those dinosaurs like to wear necklaces, but they also like to stomp on them and ROAR.

We also did the first step in making our St. Patrick's Day hats.

Combine a giant marshmallow and a gingersnap cookie - voila, a tophat.

The boys rode their rocking horses, and every cowboy needs a hat.

We colored for a bit.  This was fleeting - the boys are not big colorers.  I keep hoping that over time they'll learn to enjoy it more, but it may just not be for them.  We'll see!
